Back End Developer

Antavo is mostly written in PHP. Basically it's a conventional LAMP stack, spread across a few VM's in the Amazon cloud (not just VM's, we use a plenty of their services), serving users from 160 countries of 4 continents.

The team works tightly together to achieve development goals; new features rolled out weekly while fixes are immediate. We use SVN with branching to keep things sorted.

The whole codebase consists of a core library and several apps built around it, loosely connected to each other; this secures the independent developments of each part. We also like to use 3rd party libraries if they fit our need.

Oh, and it's interconnected with many applications (PayPal, Intercom, Redmine CRM − just to name a few).

About the role
Tasks

• Take part of designing new features, develop them nice & tidy.
• Improve fault tolerance within the application until there are no single points of failure.
• Build tools and processes to help us detect and respond to operational issues quicker.
• Handle all the surroundings of the code: applications, daemons, command line tools.
• Take care of server infrastructure, plan and execute expansions in the future.
• Improve performance of the system as a whole.

Requirements

• Developing in a LAMP stack: OOP PHP (5.3+), Experiences in SQL (MySQL/Percona)
• Using a version control system (SVN)

Advantages

• Knowledge of at least one PHP framework + APC or Memcached
• Programming languages: Python, Ruby (on Rails), Bash scripting
• Site building experiences: HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, Facebook API, OAuth
• (Ubuntu) Linux administration
• AWS
• Demonstrating a fully functional self-written project
