ATI dual Gemini board confirmed - Based on two RV570XT chips

''GECUBE got famous for its showcasing of dual mainstream chip card on Cebit and Computex. The reference design was made by ATI and now the chip firm wants to encourage companies to use this dual RV570XT card.

The card is codenamed Gemini and supports the PCIe interface only. It is built on 8-layer PCB and supports both ATX and BTX formats. The card will have two RV570XT chips clocked at a saucy 650MHz core and 1500MHz memory.

It uses 256-bit GDDR 3 in 8MX32 136 BGA 900MHz package. If we read the spec correctly the memory on this card should overclock even higher.

The card supports two Dual, Dual Link DVI and a VIVO. It is in development stage and should be available shortly after the summer, we reckon by November 2006.

ATI is also working on two other cards, codenamed Hellfire 1 and Hellfire 2. These are like Gemini, but with a single chip and a different memory speed. µ''

Replacing old weapons, ATi is going to finalize the specification and designation of RV560/570 in the coming weeks. RV570 is to replace X1900GT with the same performance but a lower cost. RV570 is probably designated to X1900GT, same with R580GT, or a new X1950 family. With regard to the previous ATi’s roadmap from Gecube, sources indicate that RV560/570 are neither 12 Pixel Shader Processor nor products based on RV530 (Radeon X1600 family) plus CrossFire Compositing Engine. In addition, to complete with nVidia 80nm G73-B1, which supports HDMI Signal Mixing and is expected in production in Q4, ATi is going to release RV550 to give HDMI Signal Mixing support to HTCP.

On the other hand, it’s confusing that if Radeon X1000 family supported HDCP as ATi stated in their web site. The answer is yes, but not now. Radeon X1000 family actually already has build-in HDCP hardware decoding support, one could enable the function by adding Crypto ROM, yet due to the license fee, the function is disabled. ATi hints that they will releasing the HDCP version soon.

ati will not completely give up on the AGP market. It will not release a top end video card , but it will continue to support this community with middle and low end range. It's pretty  easy to  make a PCB with Rialto bridge to add  support from PCIe chip to an AGP.

ATI will make a new graphic board design codenamed Torpedo 2. The card is based on the RV560 chip, will  be built at UMC,with a core clock of 450MHz and  memory clock oft 650MHz .the memory interface is128 bit . the card will come with 256MB of GDDR 3 memory comes in a BGA package using 16Mx32 chips that are capable of 700MHz performance. Modnjuk a ROP, Pipe és PS egységek számáról egy szó sincs benne. Azt meg erõsen kétlem, hogy gyorsabb a 7800GS-AGP-nél.
Az Októberi dátum meg elkeserítõ. Vagy ennyit késik az RV560/570, vagy az NVidiához hasonlóan az AGP verzió kijövetelét csúsztatják, a vevõk meg szívnak ...

ATi scheduled to release Radeon X1950XTX, the new top model, in late Aug. The new chip, codenamed R580+, has no difference with R580 in term of design, production process, and clock speed, but featured at GDDR4 support. It keeps 16 Pixel Shader pinelines, 48 Pixel Shader processors, and 256Bit memory controller; and manufactured by TSMC with 90nm process and clocked at 650MHz. Features at GDDR4 memory, it’s the first card stepped into the era of 2GHz DDR. The price is set at $399. Figure below is the engineering sample of Radeon X1950XTX where the heat sink has improved a lot.

Radeon X1950XTX is the replacement of the old king, Radeon X1900XTX, and there is another version of Radoen X1900XT with 256MB to complete with nVidia Geforce 7900GT. The 256MB version has no difference with the original 512MB version excepts its memory size. It has a lower price ranged from $249 to $299, and expected to be releasing in late Aug.

Together with R580+, new RV570 chipset also bear the name of Radeon X1950 as Radeon X1950 Pro. It’s the replacement of Radeon X1900GT. RV570 has 12 Pixel Shader pinelines, 36 Pixel Shader processors, and 256Bit memory controller. Manufactured by TSMC with 80nm process, it’s clocked at 600MHz with 1.4GHz GDDR3 memory. The heat sink is single-slot designed. Radeon X1950 Pro is the first GPU with build-in Compositing CrossFire Engine, therefore there are nomore master/salve card. With the build-in engine, the die size is similar to R580+ although it has less pinelines than R580. Radeon X1950 Pro is expected to be available in mid October, and priced between $199 and $249.

Na most a 199 dollár az az X1800GTO árszintje, ha jól sejtem, és nem sokkal lasabb mint egy X1900GT/GF7900GT. Dee az X1950XT az még durvább, mert ilyen áron nem kapsz se 7900GT-t, se X1900GT-t, viszont gyorsabb lesz az X1900XT-nél!!!

én már semmit nem értek, ha még a hazai sarcot is beleszámolom piszok olcsónak tûnnek. 
bár ha jön G80, NV-nél lenyomja a 7900/7600 árakat.

Hát úgynéz ki, hogy X1700 nem lesz mert az RV560 az lesz az X1650, az RV570 pedig az X1950Pro. 

De lesz egy új kártya is: X1300XT ami az X1600pro RV530 (RV535) magjára fog épülni.

We got word that there will be three models of X1950, the first is the X1950XTX CrossFire edition, the 2nd is X1950XTX and there is a X1950Pro.

X1950XTX & CrossFire Edition will be Aug 23.
X1950 pro will be late October.

For those who are familiar with code names, the
X1950XTX and the CrossFire edition are based on the R580+ core while the X1950Pro is based on the R570

The X1950XTX and CrossFire edition uses the convetional cable for CF operation while the X1950Pro uses a new bridge known as "Cross Fire Internconnect" to interconnect two cards. It is just like NVidia's SLI.

1950XTX and CF edition has 650MHz Core, 2GHz GDDR4 at 256bits and will retail for 449 USD (1950XTX). NO pricing information for the CF edition is available yet,

The 1950 Pro clocks at 600MHz and GDDR at 1400Mhz. It includes CrossFire Interconnect Bridge and will retail at 199 USD.

Radeon X1950 and X1900 will co-exist

ATI plans to keep the X1900 XT alive when it launches the new X1950 XTX and XT cards. Despite the marginal performance difference it won’t get rid of the X1900 XTX and XT cards at once.

It will sell them side by side with X1950 cards until supplies last and we are sure ATI has to drop the price of the X1900 cards to keep selling them.

X1950 XTX will be set at an aggressive €399, so it won't be easy to sell the remaining X1900 XTX cards but as we said before the performance difference is only seven per cent.

ATI plans to keep both 256 and 512MB versions until it completely gets rid of them and replaces them at some later date.

Hogy akkor mi a fenének linkeltem be?
Mert van egy szép közeli kép az X1950XTX nyákjáról, amin 0.9ns-es Samsung ramok csücsülnek, a cikkben latin betükkel még be is írták a pontos paramétereit:

Ebbõl arra következtetek, hogy a HKEPC kezében van már a kártya, és rövidesen teszt is lesz. A kérdés az, hogy megvárják e vele Augusztus 23-at (GD-2006, ATI bejelentések), vagy "jó szokás" szerint pár héttel elöbb felteszik

El nem tudom képzelni miért csúsztatnák el, hiszen 23-án lett volna (lesz?) pár ATI bejelentás a GC-n.

Egyre zavarosabbak a dolgok, eredeti infók alapján az RV560-as 8 pipeline-t és 24PS egységet tartalmazott volna, ami ugye a "sima" X1600XT duplázott változata.

ATI made some noise about its RV535-based Radeon X1650PRO and there is one new card to fit into X1650 range.

We don’t have many details about the new card but we know it is based on the RV560 chip. The RV560 is nothing much more than the UMC chip - an 80 nanometre semiconductor with twelve pipelines. It will still be limited with the 128-bit memory interface but will end up faster than all X1600 XT based RV530 and the new X1650PRO based on the RV535 shrink.

The RV560 card will be branded as X1650XT. The launch is scheduled for September, together with the RV570-based new Radeon X1950 generation card, again one promising lower-end card.

This will give ATI some fuel to fight Nvidia’s very successful Geforce 7600GS/GT series but we are sure that Nvidia has some magic backed up in its silky sleeve.
