I think the future is dark enough or questionable enough that it would give certain companies great concern.

From that perspective, you would expect SGI to look at Opteron as either a viable diversification or, in a more drastic type of decision, a change in strategy. By not having Opteron today they are hurting themselves.

The fact that we have been successful could be because we did the lawsuit. It could be because we started to raise the awareness in the consciousness of the customers, the government, and to a certain degree Intel employees that things needed to change.

We still see monopolistic behavior taking place every day. In some cases it might be more subdued, but that is not to say it has completely changed.

I am proud that Hector had the courage to say, "Enough". Somebody needed to do it.

Mobo makers confirm May launch for Turion64 X2 and Socket AM2

The availability of AMD’s next-generation CPUs – the Turion 64 X2 mobile and Socket-AM2 processors – will still follow the chip vendor’s May schedule, according to unnamed motherboard makers that have recently received this confirmation from AMD, in response to speculation, on the part of some PC makers, that the schedule had been put back to June, on insufficient utilization and capacity concerns.

AMD will launch the Turion 64 X2 mobile platform on May 17 and AM2-compatible processors on May 23, as opposed to rumors of a June 6 launch for the desktop segment and an unspecified June date for the mobile CPU, according to sources at the motherboard makers.

However, sources at Taiwan DRAM makers indicated that mass production of DDR2 memory for AMD-based systems will begin some time in July or August, one to two months later than originally estimated.

nem a lábkiosztás, hanem gondolom timing. az a64 imc-je is harapós volt a ddr ramokra. nem szerette ám akármelyiket

Érdekes pletyka az Inquirer-en: szerintük már 2006-ban meg fog jelenni 65 nanon 3.2 és 3.4 GHz-es dual-core. Számomra ez nagyon nem hangzik hihetõnek, az AMD-nél a új processek igazi kiteljesedéséhez lényegesen több idõ kell. Persze volt régebben olyan infó is, hogy a K8-ak a memóóriavezérlõ magas feszültségigénye miatt nem tudtak jobban skálázódni, ha tényleg csak ez fogta vissza õket, és a TDP-t is normális szinten tudják tartani, tehát a 65 nano kimondottan jó ebbõl a szempontból, akkor elvileg elképzelhetõ. Gyakorlatilag szerintem még így is nulla az esélye ennek a 3.4 GHz-es dual-core-nak. Még akkor is, ha szerintük ez elsõsorban Opteront jelent
