If you take any type of language exam be consequent. (spoken/written exam, ITK, Pitman, ICC, Trinity, Cambridge, etc.)

DO NOT MIX the words, idioms that have distinct spelling/pronunciation in British and American English.
It easily can deteriorate your exam result.
That's why I just learn and use the British spelling in normal conditions.

Btw. What kind of dictionary have you got? (apart from sztaki.hu)

I've got the monolingual Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, and I love it.

I usually speak and write in US English. Since the cultural domination of the United States it is widespread on the whole world. The most people understand it, you can call it International English too.
Anyway I like the old English-English. My favorite film in learning english is "Warlock". Redferne's speech is quite fantastic throughout the whole movie.

I have an old dictionary by Országh László(?), but I don't use it. Sztaki is much faster and better.

I use sztaki too, and i like it...
it is much more easier, and i find there the words of economy...

i like the english and american movies... if i'm in cinema, i never read the subtitle, i only listen what r they talking... i think the translation is worse than the real lyrics...

SZTAKI really is very good, however the biggest (new) version of the Országh contains a lot of words, or more often phrases that you cannot find in SZTAKI.

I was about to mention the same example. In fact it's so good (the hungarian translation, that is) that I can't really decide which is better. But it's true that this can be the exception rather than the rule.

I would like to hear your opinions and about your knowledge on the way english changes. For simplicity, let's just now talk about British english. I have two semi-new grammatical and stylistical changes in my mind that were a bit weird when I first heard them a few years ago (but which does not mean that they are that new), but never before.

The first is the structure I used in my comment line ("Wise guys are anything but.") and that is the way "but" is used for ending the sentence. It seemingly ends suddenly without further elaboration (one would say "Wise guys anything but wise."), but it's still correct nonetheless.

The other is stranger still, and this one is about a weird usage of auxiliary verbs at the end of the sentence. Here is an example: "He claimed he saw the accident last night, he did." or "He kill you for that, he will." (I'm not sure about punctuation here, so there may or may not be a comma before that particular structure).

What do you think of those? And do you know of more oddity in 21st century english?

The first one is normal, and as far as i know, it is not that old. At least i have seen it on the internet some years ago. (Lets take into consideration that i am more or less online since about 1997). However, if one tried to translate it word by word into hungarian, well...i personally would have a problem [I do know what it means, and could translate the meaning,  but not the exact way.]. To answer your Q., i dont have anything against it, however i am not using this structure.

The second one is a bit stranger. I simply havent ever heard of it so far, and i find it incorrect at the same time. On the other hand, now that i think of the topic a bit harder....Maybe its from the Empire Strikes back or what? [because Yoda had a number of similar weird structures...]

No, that's true, Yoda used it SW, but that's not the source I was referring to in this case. I saw a Simpsons episode (the Simpsons visited England) and that's were it was used many times (even by Bart, as to mock this kind of structure (he also used a British accent)). So I have no clue whatsoever.

It's no that simple. Maybe that example sentence of mine could be translated this way (or what you've translated is also formulated this way, that is), but there are other sentences that are not so easy to interpret as you've done with that. Take these for example (also from the same Simpsons episode, written down as I remember them to be said):
"Please order! Miss Dench will be furious, she'll pay us she will."
"He claimed he was me father he did." (The genitive is also used strangely)

Well, maybe it's just something isolated, not commonly used, but still.

Well, it's possible that I was wrong and quoted that sentence wrongly, but the structure is still not the same. It may be close to it, but not the same.

Yes, I added a 'will', I thought the lack of it was just a typing error. Sorry.

In general, this structure is used for affirmation, and should be translated as such. In most cases it can be translated to 'esküszöm' or something similar (whatever makes sense in the context).

Not all structures in a language have perfect equivalents in other languages -- in fact, the more familiar you are with the languages in question the less 'perfect matches' you find.
